UK Leather Federation
The key objective of the UK Leather Federation (UKLF) is to actively represent the interests of the UK leather industry as a whole, through the auspices of a focused, authoritative and influential body.
The aim is to provide a range of trade association services, with the direct involvement of members in the prioritisation of their particular requirements through a consultation process. In addition, a recruitment drive is planned to broaden the membership base and ensure as wide a representation as possible. Initially, the primary trade association services will include:

- Legislation and enforcement -
relations with BERR(formerly DTI)/DEFRA/EA/Regional Development Agencies

Lobbying -
Cotance, (the European Tanners Association), covers the growing proportion of the legislation, affecting the tanning industry, initiated in Brussels;
CBI, (Confederation of British Industry), useful on general issues, for example, environmental legislation, international trade issues and general employment issues;
ICT, (International Council of Tanners - Secretariat provided by BLC), provides an international forum for the worldwide leather industry, and an interface with international bodies, such as UNIDO, UNEP, FAO and ICHSLTA
- Raw material/environment/trade/employment issues
- Committees - Health & Safety, Marketing, Bovine Section
- Marketing of UK leather including - Trade Fairs/promotion/PR
- Statistics and trading issues (veterinary certification/tariffs)
- Agricultural shows/hide & skin quality
- Area measurement standards
